The tour of Tinque lasts approximately 45 minutes until we reach Pacchanta where we will taste a delicious breakfast. From this place we will start walking towards the beautiful Ausangate lagoons. We will have to walk for 5 hours and visit different lagoons:
Pucacocha Lagoon: It is the first lagoon of the circuit, which is also known as the Chocolate lagoon. This is due to the color of its waters, similar to that of the chocolate. It is approximately at 4,500 meters above sea level.
Patacocha Lagoon: The next lagoon is approximately at about 4,860 meters above sea level. Its waters are clearer. The snowy Ausangate can be seen more clearly than that from the first lagoon.
Alqacocha Lagoon: This lagoon is located approximately at 4,750 meters above sea level. Due to the altitude, the cold begins to rise. Each lagoon shows a spectacular view of the snow-capped mountains and the Vilcanota mountain range.
Qomercocha Lagoon: The next lagoon is Qomercocha which comes from the Quechua word that means ‘Green Lagoon’, due to the green color of its waters. It is located at 4,666 meters above sea level. It has one of the best views of the place.
Orco Otorongo Lagoon: This small lagoon, due to its shape and surrounding landscape, has the shape and fur (spots) of a male otorongo, a feline that inhabits the jungles of America. The lagoon is located at 4,620 meters above sea level.
China Otorongo Lagoon: Near the previous lagoon is the lagoon “China Otorongo” which refers to the female of this American feline. The panoramic views of both lagoons are impressive. Ideal for taking pictures.
Azul Cocha Lagoon: The last one in this circuit. It has a dark blue color. The beauty of this lagoon, as well as its surrounding mountainous landscape, is highly appreciated by tourists who often take pictures here.
During the walk we will be able to appreciate the Ausangate mountain as well as birds, alpacas, llamas, vizcachas and if we are lucky the Andean Condor. After the circuit we will return to the town of Pacchanta to enjoy the hot springs, ideal for relaxing the muscles of the body. After the buffet lunch, we will board the bus that will take us back to the city of Cusco. At approximately 6 p.m.
