The one day tour to the Cachicata quarries, is an adventure planned to be visited by you. This walk is interesting and fascinating of the Inca ingenuity, since we will see that this place is where the Incas carved and shaped the enormous rocks for the constructions of Ollantaytambo as well as other places. It is awesome because how these huge stones were carried, is still a mystery. After passing through this incredible place, we will go to Intipunku (Sun Gate), considered a Sacred place of Spiritual retreat since ancient times.
The Cachicata Quarries are located in the district of Ollantaytambo, the Living Inca City. We venture on a route full of beautiful and spectacular views of the Sacred Valley and the mystical city of Ollantaytambo.

This day begins with the blessings bestowed upon you by the beauty of nature. We will leave the hotel at 06:00 am. We will travel by bus from Cusco, along a road that winds around the mountains to the north of Cusco and we will go down into the Urubamba Valley. Finally we will arrive at the town of Ollantaytambo to start our walk towards Cachiccata, after a briefing, recommendations and precautions from our guide. We will start with the trail to the Cachicata Quarries that will take us approximately 4 to 5 hours round hike. It will depend on the walking speed that we are going to take. During the journey we will observe a great variety of landscapes of the Sacred Valley in different directions. This place is unique and magical that nature offered to the Incas.
We will see the trails where the stones were moved. Also, some of them that remained during their transport from the Cachicata Quarries. We can also visit the Intipunku sector, considered an enigmatic place due to its orientation towards the snowy Verónica or Wakay Willka (“Sacred Mountain that Cry”) (18,745 feet), a place also used as a spiritual retreat. Here, we will have free time to photograph and explore this magical place.
After the visit we will begin with the return descent and we will arrive at the place where we will have lunch; admiring a spectacular view that nature offers us. Then we will continue with the descent. Our transport will be waiting for us to return to the imperial city of Cusco.
