For South Valley tour We will pick you up at your hotel at 09:00 in the morning, and we will go to our first visit point, the fascinating archaeological site of Tipón, where we will see the best of the Inca hydraulic work system, which will amaze you with its impressive engineering and the Inca irrigation system. Then we will go to Pikillacta, where we will discover the excellent urban planning of the Inca architecture, and the pre-Inca architecture developed by the Wari culture in Pikillacta, surrounded by huge lakes and mountains.
Continuing with this magnificent tour, we will be impressed with the colonial architecture when we visit the San Pedro de Andahuaylillas church, considered as the “Sistine Chapel of America”. It was built by the Jesuit order at the end of the 16th century and the beginning of the 17th century. Its architectural structure is typical of village churches. Its walls are wide like all colonial buildings, made of adobe (sun-dried mud bricks). The facade is decorated with magnificent murals, and two large stone columns at the main entrance.
Although its exterior architecture is relatively modest, its interior decoration is unique and impressive. First of all, we can mention a picture of the “Assumption of the Virgin”, painted by the Spanish painter Esteban Murillo. You will also see wall paintings attributed to Luis de Riaño (17th century).
Finally, we will return to the town of Tipón, which is known for its baked guinea pig dish, a traditional dish from Cusco region and one of the direct links between ancient Inca culture and modern Quechua culture.
In fact, you will be able to taste this delicious local food from the towns of Saylla, Huasao and Tipón. You will really enjoy this tour!
