Hello Peru Tours will pick you up from your hotel at 08:00 a.m. hours or 13:00 p.m. hours in our private transport, and we will start the trip to the first point of visit which is the town of Chinchero which is located at (3760 m.a.s.l.) where the central square is located with a colonial adobe church, dating from the beginning of the XVII century. This has been built on the foundations of an Inca temple (Huaca Inca). This place is known because it was the palace of the Inca Túpac Yupanqui.
Most of its inhabitants are dedicated to agriculture, mainly to cultivate potatoes; But this town is also known for the beautiful textiles (fabrics) they produce using unique Andean designs. The colors they use are natural and of ancestral use.
We continue to the town of Maras, where the colonial architectural beauty is still preserved. To then continue until Salineras or Salt Mines, which have been in this place since Pre-Inca times. The salt mines consist of 3,000 salt pits, small about 5 square meters (53.8 square feet). Every 3 days during the dry season, workers fill the pits with salt water that comes from a natural hot spring, once the pond water evaporates, the salt is left to collect. This process is carried out for a month.
Then we will go to the fascinating archaeological site of MORAY. It is located at 3,450 m.a.s.l. (11,318ft). Amazing archaeological site, made up of 4 circular terraces, located in huge holes embedded in the ground. The deepest is 30 meters high.
The agricultural terraces of Moray and the irrigation system have varied microclimates depending on the depth at which the basin is located. It is believed that they were used by the Incas to discover optimal conditions for the growth of their crops. It is also believed that these had a cosmological significance. The Incas were very advanced in their knowledge of creating specific sub-climates to adapt different crops to different altitudes.
